July 6th, 1894 in the Aberdeen Weekly Journal
Every wonder how Sherlock Holmes would take on Jack the Ripper? Even in 1894 this was very much in the minds of the public, so much so that while traveling through the United States on a lecture tour Arthur Conan Doyle stopped to chat with a journalist who asked this very question. ACD in his usual sagacity, gave a fairly detailed and interesting answer.
Though I found this article in the Aberdeen Weekly Journal, it was taken from a much longer interview with Conan Doyle in an unknown American journal. This borrowing of text from other journals was a common thing in the 1890s so its been a bit difficult getting to the origins of the piece. Still very fascinating though.

And that’s why Arthur Conan Doyle gets all the ladies.
